This stunning recreation of a revolutionary design from the 1930s/40s by one of surfings most recognizable names is a collectors dream. Greg Noll shaped Hot Curl, 9’2 redwood/balsawood construction, signed by the late Greg Noll (1937-2021).
The Hot Curl surfboards (original designers: John Kelly, Fran Heath, Wally Froiseth) had a profound influence on the evolution of the modern surfboard, most notably in the streamlined, wide point forward narrow tailed guns that reached ascendancy in the 1960s at big wave surf spots like Waimea Bay, and were also a major influence on the development of the Malibu surfboard in the 1950s.
Greg’s recreations have always been in high demand and this board is one of a limited run he made from legacy and heritage woods. This legendary surfboard in particular was one of two built for and in trade for Rick Rietveld’s iconic “Noll vs. Neptune” tribute painting and comes with a limited edition original signed lithograph signed by Noll and Rietveld, printed in 1999 on archival, museum quality acid free paper. (one of only 50 signed by Noll) 22″x 27.5″
9’2” Long, 18″ Wide, Nose 11.25″ wide, Tail 9″, 80 pounds
