Lightning Bolt surfboard shaped by Don Koplien in the early 1970s. Featuring a striking red lightning bolt with matching pinstriped outline. 7’6 swallow tail. Original single fin mounted leg leash included! Don Koplien has been associated with Lightning Bolt since it’s inception in 1971. Co-founders Gerry Lopez and Jack Shipley asked Don to join them in the new venture they were embarking upon. It’s been said that Koplien’s boards were Gerry’s favorites. This spectacular example of an early 1970s Lightning Bolt remains in unrestored all original condition. A similar Lightning Bolt by Don Koplien in all original condition sold for $5,500 +15% buyers fee (final price of $6,325) at a 2022 auction. Ride or display this remarkable piece of surfing history!
