Morey Pope “Trisect” 3-piece longboard prototype made in 1965. The Trisect was an early Morey Pope creation—a travel ready three piece surfboard that came with its own suitcase. A practical idea that didn’t gain much traction upon release but would end up being resurrected 30 years later. Tom Morey was most famous for his invention of the boogie board though many of the innovations he brought to life helped popularize surfing including the Trisect three-piece surfboard, a hollow aluminum honeycombed surfboard, an injection-molded interchangeable fin, and a wax substitute called Slipcheck. This rare prototype Trisect surfboard comes complete with pen marked measurements, possibly attributed to the inventor himself.
