AIPA Surfing’s New Image 6’6 Sting surfboard shaped by Mike Slingerland in the early 1970’s. Featuring the iconic Sting shape design, invented by the late Ben Aipa (1946-2021). All original condition. “Da Sting” is the board design that changed the world of surfing. In the early 1970’s Ben Aipa envisioned and produced “Da Sting”. The first winged board ever created. The unmistakable outline ushered in one of the most revolutionary moments in surf history. The Sting’s influence can be seen in all winged boards to date. The positioning of the wing enables an early release and allows sharper turns on the face of the wave.
